Indoctrination Project is a collection of sound pieces that explore the tension between personal and social identity and examining intersections between spirituality and sexuality. I maintain an intimately personal approach to this work to communicate and honor the queer voice. Nothing is entirely synthesized. I am interested in transformation—taking real sound sources, both found and musical, and digitally manipulating them to create a new sound world. This world reflects a transformation of our social world into a more ideal alternative, challenging the listener to consider a life free from existing power structures and prejudices, embracing the individual and beauty over money, power, and conformity--the inheritance of privilege. This transformation is rooted in queer identity and queer theory, because it requires removing the listener from the “normal” environment into a new world that isn’t supportive of the current patriarchal authority—delving deep into deviance and honoring our bare, sometimes aweful, sometimes awesome, existence.
